Children will learn to follow instruction and develop their listening, social skills. They will work together in a group and participate in gymnastic actIvities which promote gross motor develop skills. The introduction to basic fundamental movement patterns will also be part of this class.

Introduction to basic gymnastic elements such as swing, spring, flight, height, rotations and landings. Interaction with other participants and following instruction will play a big part part of this class, while developing the skills and components of fitness associated with gymnastics.

During this course children will explore the basic fundamentals of gymnastic skills such as rolls, jumps, hops, leaps, directional change, handstands and cartwheels. Introduction to all gymnastic apparatus will be incorporated into the lesson along with warm up and conditioning skills.

Throughout this course children will be provided with the gymnastic and coaching techniques to achieve skills necessary for elite gymnastic competition. Selection into this class will be by level of ability and coaches selection. All gymnastic apparatus will be introduced and student gymnasts will spend time on developing the various components of fitness such as strength, power, flexibility and endurance. This class primary focus will be developing a strong foundation with the aim of training these gymnasts for competition. They may represent their school or club in both performances and in local and overseas gymnastic competitions.
